He finds a brother in Hosea when they try to rob each other, similar to Anakin finding a brother in Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the two form the bedrock of the Van Der Linde Gang. After Arthur accompanies him on a mission given by the mayor himself, Jean-Marc is actively displeased by the tasks he's being forced to carry out, making it clear that he doesn't want to work for such an unscrupulous individual anymore. He's a man who believes in the concept of honor and doesn't want the city to pay for the mayor's misdeeds, which is understandable.

This time, he wants Arthur to track down an NPC named Hector Fellowes and convince him to contribute money to a public library.
